- Offering Free High-Speed Mobile Broadband with Joors, a Swedish Mobile Broadband Operator - An Innovative Digital Advertising Channel
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – 17 January 2012 - MNC Wireless Berhad (“MNC” or “the Company”), a Malaysian based mobile and internet media specialist today announced that it has, via its associate company IntJoors Sverige AB (“Joors”) initiated the launch of “Joors”, the world’s first free high speed mobile internet service, in Sweden. The enabling technology and technical platforms for this new and exciting service was designed and developed by MNC, while the mobile broadband network is provided by TeliaSonera Mobile Networks AB in Sweden, on a wholesale basis.
The shareholders of Joors make up a collection of some of the best minds in telecommunications, advertising and media in the Nordic and Asian regions. Joors’ investors include Star Publications (M) Berhad, publisher of the most widely-read English language newspaper in Malaysia.
“It took us a little more than a year to bring the idea and concept of Joors to reality and we are extremely excited to be the world’s first to offer an ad-supported mobile broadband service in one of the most advanced telecommunications market. The concept of Joors is unique in the way that it creates a highly effective platform for digital ad targeting and interaction, while providing consumers with a very valuable commodity which is mobile internet access. The innovativeness of Joors is definitely going to set new trends and standards in both the telecommunications and media segments worldwide,” said Mr Chung Jaan Hao, Chief Executive Officer of MNC on the launch of Joors in Sweden.
Joors offers a one-of-a-kind service in the market that does away with the monthly fees or lengthy contract subscription periods. Users only need to pay a one-time start up fee for registration and they will be provided with free internet access, for normal usage, for every 30 days at a speed up to 10 Mbps. This is perfect for users to surf the web, check their emails, upload pictures and even download a short movie. For users who require more data capacity, they have the option to purchase extra data at competitive prices.
Joors mobile broadband is supported by advertising revenue from advertisers. As a digital media channel, it is able to deliver advertisements in multiple interactive audio and visual formats, while providing a platform for advertisers to devise creative campaigns that can attract and engage with their customers more effectively compared to other online and traditional media channels. What really sets it apart from the rest is its advertisement targeting capability. “One of the main differentiator of Joors as a digital media channel is the ability for advertisers to target a wide and yet very specific audience, where it no longer matters which website, search engine or social networking service that the target audience is using. We are enveloping everything and there will be a lot of cleverness that we are building into the system to make this an advertisers’ dream come true while staying clear from creating an experience that may be deemed intrusive for our customer base,” says Mr Chung.
